Xi’an, China – September 1st, 2025 –Focuslight Technologies Inc. today announced that its strategic shift in automotive imprinted micro-optics production has delivered strong results, with its acquisition of Focuslight Switzerland SA achieving single-quarter profitability.
Since acquiring Focuslight Switzerland in early 2024, the company has driven integration by centralizing functions, unified processes and procedures, shared services, and by drawing on its successful experience from the LIMO acquisition. These efforts bore fruit in the first half of 2025, as the Focuslight Switzerland acquired business reported year-on-year revenue growth and a sharp increase in gross margin. In Q2, it turned profitable—an important milestone just six quarters after the deal closed.

To better serve the automotive industry’s demand for cost-sensitive products, Focuslight swiftly initiated the transfer of its imprinted micro-optics production line from Neuchâtel, Switzerland, to Shaoguan, China. The move has optimized the cost structure by leveraging Shaoguan’s competitive labor market, reduced fixed costs from self-owned facilities, and lower operating expenses in energy and compliance. As a result, the company has strengthened its competitiveness in the global automotive market.
The transfer was executed smoothly, with clear milestones achieved:
- October 2024: First equipment arrived in Shaoguan and was installed and commissioned.
- November 2024: Facility achieved IATF 16949 automotive quality certification from TÜV SÜD.
- December 2024: Passed quality audits from two leading European Tier-1 auto suppliers.
- January 2025: Shaoguan shipped its first batch of micro-lens array (MLA) products, completing the production transfer.
Today, the Shaoguan facility is operating at stable volume production, with margins not only improved but already positive—a strong indicator of operational efficiency and financial progress.
Gavin Zhu, President of Focuslight’s Automotive Business Unit, said: “This successful transfer reflects both our global vision and our execution capabilities with operational excellence. More importantly, it lays the foundation for expanding into higher-value automotive markets in the years ahead.”

Photonics technologies are playing an increasingly vital role in next-generation smart vehicles: micro-lens arrays enable ultra-thin headlighting and advanced projection systems; LiDAR powers driver-assistance and autonomous driving; and AR-HUD brings high-definition driving data into view. Focuslight is actively expanding its presence in these fields, supplying core MLA products for projection lighting, headlamps, and innovative applications such as exterior projection carpets, road-surface displays, interior ambient lighting, and advanced headlamp systems. The company also provides one-stop LiDAR solutions—from core optical components to transmitter modules—and has established broad collaborations with leading global Tier-1 suppliers.
Looking ahead, Focuslight will continue to improve margins in its automotive business by increasing yield rates, localizing material production, and driving lean manufacturing. At the same time, the company will expand its automotive footprint, fueling sustainable growth and profitability.
