Presentation | Micro-Optics Without Limits: Varied Technologies, Powerful Datacom Solutions

Time:2026-01-08

On 15 January 2026 (Thursday) at 14:00 Beijing Time, Joanna Qiao, Head of Optical Communications Business at Focuslight, are invited to attend the online seminar session “PIC Breakthrough + SMT Precision Manufacturing: Building a New Ecosystem for High-Speed Optical Communication Modules”, hosted by ACT International. She will deliver a featured presentation titled “Micro-Optics Without Limits: Varied Technologies, Powerful Datacom Solutions”, sharing practical insights into the role and value of micro-optics in next-generation data communication systems. The presentation will be made in Chinese language.

Abstract

Driven by the rapid growth of AI, cloud computing, and hyperscale datacenters, data communication systems are facing increasing demands for higher bandwidth, lower power consumption, smaller form factors, and faster go-to-market. Traditional optical component designs, often constrained by a single process or material platform, struggle to balance performance, cost, manufacturability, and reliability – placing significant pressure on system integrators and module manufacturers.

In this presentation, Joanna will share how Focuslight, guided by the philosophy of “Micro-Optics Without Limits,” has built a comprehensive portfolio of micro-optics manufacturing platforms. These include Photolithography-RIE (reactive ion etching), Wafer-Level Simultaneously Structuring, Precision Glass Molding, and Wafer-Level Optics Precision Imprinting. Within an integrated global manufacturing system, these platforms enable end-to-end solutions – from design and validation to volume production for applications such as pluggable optical modules, FAUs, OCS, PICs, while empowering the roadmaps and ecosystems of CPO, NPO, and OIO.

Through real-world application examples, the presentation will demonstrate how micro-optics can improve coupling efficiency, optimize assembly tolerances, reduce system complexity, and accelerate the transition from development to mass production. Our goal is clear: when the industry faces challenges, “you bring the challenge, we bring the solution.”
