Abstract

Photonics is playing an increasingly critical role in healthcare by enabling non-invasive diagnostics, precise therapeutic solutions, and real-time patient monitoring.

In this presentation, Auri will examine how light-based technologies are transforming three key areas of healthcare: medical imaging, disease detection, and treatment.

Through concrete application examples, the talk will highlight how photonics can improve patient outcomes, such as detecting cancers earlier and diagnosing infections in minutes rather than days. The presentation will also provide practical insights into wearable photonic sensors that are already present in millions of smartwatches, as well as emerging breakthroughs in AI integration, implantable monitoring and remote healthcare.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Barcelona and a master’s degree in marketing management from EAE Business School. With a background spanning scientific consulting, photonics industry marketing, and market intelligence, Auri has held marketing roles in chemical distribution and at the European Photonics Industry Consortium (EPIC). She joined SUSS MicroOptics in 2022 and continues her role at Focuslight following its acquisition in 2024, where she focuses on market analysis, industry trends, and strategic growth initiatives.
