Job Responsibilities
The micro-optics designer is responsible for the development, simulation, and optimization of micro-optical components and systems used in high-precision optical applications such as sensor technology, imaging, telecommunications, and lithography. The aim of the position is to design innovative micro-optical solutions that combine technical performance, manufacturability, and cost optimization.
- Development and design of micro-optical components (e.g., microlens arrays, diffractive optics, etc.).
- Performing optical simulations (e.g., with Zemax, LightTools, COMSOL, Lumerical, or other FDTD/ray tracing tools).
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure the manufacturability of the designed components.
- Define and evaluate design tolerances.
- Perform feasibility studies, prototype development, and design reviews.
- Support the integration of micro-optical components into complex optical systems.
- Document and present design results internally and to customers.
- Analyzing technical requirements and translating them into optical design specifications.
- Selecting suitable materials and technologies for the implementation of micro-optical structures.
- Supporting production in the transfer from prototype to series production.
- Performing tests and measurements to validate optical performance.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with optics, electronics, and software developers.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience in the manufacture of optical components.
- Good knowledge of simulation and design of micro-optics using appropriate software.
- Experience with optical assemblies and components such as cameras, laser diodes, excimer lasers, etc..
- Experience in recording and evaluating measurement data.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Confident use of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Goal-oriented and structured approach to work as well as strong analytical skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV is desirable.
- Programming skills in e.g. Matlab, Python, etc..
