Presentation | Sensor Module Packaging: Enabling the Miniaturization, Intelligence, and Scalable Deployment of 3D Perception

Date Posted:2026-09-09

On 10 September 2026 from 14:20 to 14:45 (local time), Mr. Lichen Sun, Product Line Manager at Focuslight’s Global Photonics Foundry Business Unit, will deliver a talk at the 41st “MEMSeminar” — a concurrent event of the 27th China International Optoelectronic Exposition (CIOE 2026) in Shenzhen, hosted by MEMS Consulting. His presentation is titled "Optical Sensor Module Packaging: Enabling Miniaturized, Intelligent, and Scalable 3D Sensing Systems".

Abstract

The rapid growth of AI glasses, smartphones and smartwatches, home robots, medical imaging, and smart cars has accelerated the adoption of 3D sensing as a fundamental capability, rather than a premium feature. As the market pursues smaller footprints, lower power consumption, higher reliability, and more scalable manufacturing, achieving high-performance optical sensing within increasingly constrained space has become a key challenge across the value chain.

This presentation will start from the unique requirements of optical sensor modules for consumer electronics and discuss how key capabilities such as optical design, optical manufacturing, light-tight architecture, and wafer-level module integration are driving the evolution of 3D sensing systems toward greater miniaturization, higher integration, and mass-production readiness.

Several real-world application cases will be also analyzed in depth, including:

As a leading global provider of photonics solutions, Focuslight has identified consumer electronics as one of its key strategic growth areas. Under a unified global manufacturing system, the company operates a one-stop photonics solutions platform spanning the entire product lifecycle, from concept development to high-volume production. Focuslight is committed to bridging innovative vision with industrial practice through photonics technology, working together with partners to drive continuous innovation in next-generation intelligent devices.

Speaker

Lichen Sun, Product Line Manager of Global Photonics Foundry at Focuslight

Mr. Lichen Sun has over seven years of experience in R&D and product management of high-power diode laser. Following Focuslight’s acquisition of ams OSRAM’s Optical Component Assets in 2024, he became a key driving force in shaping the new division’s product strategy.
