On 10 September 2026 from 14:20 to 14:45 (local time), Mr. Lichen Sun, Product Line Manager at Focuslight’s Global Photonics Foundry Business Unit, will deliver a talk at the 41st “MEMSeminar” — a concurrent event of the 27th China International Optoelectronic Exposition (CIOE 2026) in Shenzhen, hosted by MEMS Consulting. His presentation is titled "Optical Sensor Module Packaging: Enabling Miniaturized, Intelligent, and Scalable 3D Sensing Systems".

Abstract
The rapid growth of AI glasses, smartphones and smartwatches, home robots, medical imaging, and smart cars has accelerated the adoption of 3D sensing as a fundamental capability, rather than a premium feature. As the market pursues smaller footprints, lower power consumption, higher reliability, and more scalable manufacturing, achieving high-performance optical sensing within increasingly constrained space has become a key challenge across the value chain.
This presentation will start from the unique requirements of optical sensor modules for consumer electronics and discuss how key capabilities such as optical design, optical manufacturing, light-tight architecture, and wafer-level module integration are driving the evolution of 3D sensing systems toward greater miniaturization, higher integration, and mass-production readiness.
Several real-world application cases will be also analyzed in depth, including:
- Ambient Light Sensor (ALS) modules for under-display (OLED) sensing;
- Integrated Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensing modules combining VCSEL light sources and photodiode (PD) sensors within a single compact package;
- High-performance structured-light dot projector modules based on Diffractive Optical Elements (DOE);
- Miniature camera modules fit for AI glasses, spatial computing devices, disposable endoscopes, and robotic vision systems.
