Presentation | Photonics Technologies Empowering Consumer Electronics Innovation — From Concept to Mass Production

On August 26th, 2026, from 14:30 to 16:00 (China Time), Focuslight will host an online technical webinar titled “Photonics Technologies Empowering Consumer Electronics Innovation: From Concept to Mass Production.” The webinar will be presented in Chinese.

Jointly presented by three Product Line Managers from our Global Photonics Foundry Business Unit, this webinar will focus on photonics application solutions for consumer electronics and related emerging applications. The speakers will explore how these technologies drive continuous innovation in smart devices and share Focuslight’s experience in core component/module design and mass production.

Abstract

Driven by the rise of artificial intelligence, multimodal interaction, and next-gen smart devices, consumer electronics are rapidly evolving from standalone hardware into intelligent sensing systems. This paradigm shift is unlocking a broader spectrum of applications, including intelligent vehicles, domestic robots, AI glasses, smart wearables, and medical imaging. Today, an increasing number of critical features — from ambient light sensing and 3D vision to human-machine interaction, smart lighting, and automotive displays — rely heavily on photonics technologies. At the same time, the market demand for miniaturization, high performance, low power consumption, and high-volume manufacturing introduces unprecedented challenges to optical design, advanced packaging, and fabrication processes.

Drawing upon typical case studies in the consumer application sector, this webinar explores how key technologies — such as wafer-level optics (WLO), advanced modules, and packaging — drive the development of next-generation smart devices and intelligent systems. Focusing on applications like Ambient Light Sensing (ALS), ToF sensing, micro-camera modules, automotive lighting, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), the session will discuss how to achieve system-level optimization across performance, size, power consumption, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency. Additionally, the speakers will share first-hand product development insights — covering the entire journey from conceptual design, optical simulation, and component development to mass production, while highlighting how collaborative supply chain innovation accelerates industry growth.

Speakers

Dr. Yixin Chen is Product Line Manager at Global Photonics Foundry Business Unit at Focuslight. She holds a degree in Materials Science from the University of Oxford, with a strong academic background in semiconductor materials and technologies. Prior to joining Focuslight, she worked at international companies including ams OSRAM, where she gained extensive experience in failure analysis, materials characterization, reliability and quality management, as well as project and R&D management. She currently focuses on global market development and customer business management for photonics process and manufacturing services.

 

Lichen Sun is Product Line Manager at Global Photonics Foundry Business Unit at Focuslight. He has over seven years of experience at Focuslight serving as R&D Engineer and Product Line Manager for high-power semiconductor lasers. Following Focuslight’s acquisition of ams OSRAM’s optical component assets in 2024, he transitioned to the Global Photonics Foundry Business Unit, where he has been responsible for product line management and business development.

Zoya Zhou is Product Line Manager at Global Photonics Foundry Business Unit at Focuslight. She previously worked in product development at Forvia Hella and joined Focuslight in 2024 when the company acquired SUSS MicroOptics, taking on the role of Product Manager for automotive applications in China. Since 2026, she has served as a Product Line Manager within the Global Photonics Foundry Business Unit.
